When it comes to photos, context is definitely important. It's why most of the photos you see, whether on social media or TV, contain captions. You usually need a little information about what was happening when the photo was taken. If you don't get any context, then you might be left with more questions than answers. Your brain needs some background information because it has a tendency to run wild if not given any - but sometimes, that can be fun. So, if you're ready for a good laugh, take a look at the photos on this list.
A New Kind of Sport
This urinal was probably put here just for laughs, but that doesn't mean that people haven't tried to use it. There are what look like rock climbing holds leading up to the urinal, although they don't really go that far up. Still, we'd actually be really surprised if someone hadn't tried to climb their way up there and use that urinal before, especially if this is at a bar or something.
We just really hope that nobody was using the urinals next to the one up high on the wall when that was tried. It'd really suck to be down below, and someone misses.
When Your Babysitter Is Literally a Chicken
At first, we just assumed that the chickens chased the two kids into the pen since chickens can be pretty mean sometimes, but that might not be what's going on here. If you look closely, you can spot all kinds of different chicken figures and whatnot in the background. That means someone really loves their chickens and probably keeps the one in this photo in the house on a regular basis.
If so, that would leave little Bobby and Billy with no other place to play but the chicken pen. That is if they don't want to have to deal with the chicken harassing them the entire time.
We Have Just One Question: Why?
If you've ever wondered what a vehicle version of a turducken would look like for some reason, then here you go. For some reason, these guys are trying to load up a van inside a truck, and the van just happens to have a car inside of it. They could just be trying to get everything in one go so that they don't have to come back for the car or something.
However, without context, there's really no telling. Also, we're not really sure how they actually got the car inside of the van like that because it looks like a really tight fit.
You Are What You Eat
Someone, or a group of people, really didn't have much to do on the night this photo was taken. But we're kind of glad; otherwise, we might never have gotten to see whatever this is. It looks like someone covered this guy in a bunch of different types of vegetables. There's everything from carrots and lettuce to celery and spinach in this shot. But we're not exactly sure if those are apples or what is in the middle.
It doesn't really matter, though; this is pretty epic. We just wonder what made them want to do this and how long it actually took them to make it all look so nice.
The Start of a Bizarre Horror Movie
We've never seen a photo quite like this one, but then again, that's true for a lot of the photos on this list. It looks like someone was driving down the road when they somehow slammed into some kind of sturgeon. Not only that, but it appears as though it's so cold outside that the sturgeon simply froze onto their front bumper. However, there is one clue as to what happened in this photo.
It looks like the fish has a tag near its tail, meaning it was caught and probably dead when it slammed into the car. So, that rules out it jumping through the ice like a dolphin and ending up in a collision.
"Hey Mom, My New Friend's Gonna Sleep Over Tonight"
You don't have to have children to know that they have a tendency to go and wake their parents up as soon as the sun starts to peak over the horizon. However, we've never heard of a kid walking into their parents' bedroom with a pony before. Maybe he thought that the pony was hungry or thirsty. We mean, it would be breakfast time if this was on in the morning.
But how did he even get the pony into the house? Did the kid walk out to the stables, or was the pony already at the backdoor? There are just so many questions here.
What Are the Odds of Getting a Speeding Ticket While Your Car Is Being Towed?
Getting caught for speeding really sucks, but you know what sucks even more? What's happening in this photo. Someone is getting their car towed, and it looks as though a speed trap captured a photo of their plate and sent them a speeding ticket. Obviously, it was the tow truck's fault, but the camera completely missed their tag. We just wish we'd been there when the owner of the car tried to explain this one to the judge.
Also, how fast was that tow truck driver actually going? Those trucks are pretty big and heavy, so they really couldn't have been zooming that fast, could they?
The Attack of the Poohs
Here's another photo that looks a little wild without any context. It appears to show a bunch of people dressed up like Winnie the Pooh. However, we're not exactly sure if they're protesting or celebrating. There's even a little kid dressed up like Pooh in the far left side of the photo. It's totally possible that it could be from a weird protest, though, as China's leader, Xi Jinping, notoriously hates it when people compare him to the famous cartoon character.
Either way, it would be pretty crazy to see in person, especially if everyone in the photo really was protesting by dressing up as the honey-loving bear, Winnie the Pooh.
The Grocery Cart That Defied Gravity
This photo shows something pretty incredible. Someone managed to put a shopping cart on the top of this pole, which looks like it's at least 10 feet up in the air. And while we're not entirely sure how it was done, we do have some theories. When this photo was posted, someone said that they used to see people do this when they'd get a really heavy snowstorm.
However, they added that they usually don't get this much snow anymore. Someone could've also just used a truck with a boon or something and placed it up there. However, neither of those explains why they did this.
Only on the NYC Subway
Depending on where exactly you live, it can already be a bit of a hassle to take the subway. Sometimes, there are just people on there that freak you out. But imagine jumping on the train to head home and seeing this. For some reason, a bunch of people are painted blue and even carrying blue luggage. We'd honestly like to know where they were and why they were dressed like this.
Maybe they were extras or dancers in a film somewhere, or maybe they were at a convention of some kind. Either way, this would definitely be a sight to see on your commute home.
This is probably one of the most hilarious photos on this list. Like, what in the world is going on here? The man has a cat in what looks like a baby harness, and the woman is right next to him, chowing down on what looks kind of like a corndog. The cat is also just staring off at something that's out of frame. Literally, nothing here makes any sense.
But maybe this is just what this couple's day-to-day looks like, and someone just happened to capture them while they were out for a stroll in the park or something.
This one is pretty hilarious, and before anybody gets angry about the title, just know that we're actually pretty big Alabama fans. Anyway, it looks like someone had a little too much fun when they were coming back from a party one night because the faculty were forced to put up this sign. However, it happens, especially at universities, so this one isn't super surprising. What is surprising is that they felt the need to include the bit about the camera.
Obviously, this has happened more than once, but was it the same person every time? Or did a bunch of different people just randomly start doing this separately on their way back to the dorm?
No Pressure, No Pressure
This is definitely a photo that needs a little context. Honestly, there's really only one explanation for this one, and even that seems a bit out there. This has to be part of some kind of art exhibition. The only question is, if so, then who was the artist, and where was this? If it wasn't really part of an art exhibition, then we're pretty much at a loss for this photo.
It could be a scene from someone's nightmare, or it could just be a scene from a movie. We'll probably never know for sure, but we're a little thankful for that.
A Huge Game of Jenga - But With Chairs
This one is a great example of why most photos need a little context. Most people would probably see this photo and wonder what in the world was going on here. However, it's actually part of an art installation. We know that because we were able to look it up and find it online. This was done in Istanbul by an artist named Doris Salcedo way back in 2002.
She placed around 1550 chairs between these two buildings. In addition to it being a pretty interesting concept, it's also a pretty amazing feat, as it looks as though all of them could come crumbling down at any second.
Was This Owl Caught Drinking and Driving?
There's literally no telling what was going on when this photo was taken, but we'll try and put forth some theories anyway. It's possible that this owl was injured, and someone called animal control or 911 to come pick him up. That might be why he's sitting calmly in the back of a police car. However, it's also possible that the owl from Harry Potter's Hogwarts got caught up in some trouble while he was out.
Personally, we like the thought of the second theory, so we're just going to stick with that. But yeah, the first theory is probably the most likely explanation.
That One Roommate Who Never Leaves You Alone
For whatever reason, when it comes to these photos, a lot of people seem to adore their chickens. This one is just casually resting on his roommate's head while he's playing a video game. The little kid also seems to be staying focused pretty well, considering there's a rooster on top of his head. Roosters can be pretty mean, too, but this kid seems to be only focused on one thing.
This kid's mom or dad was probably walking into the room and snapped this photo. But that doesn't explain why so many people are keeping chickens in their houses.
Baby Shark, Mommy Shark, Daddy Shark, Grandma Shark, and Grandpa Shark
This photo would probably be a bit infuriating without a little context, only because you'd never be able to tell what exactly is going on. Yes, there are five people going down an escalator with plush sharks in their hands, but luckily, we probably know what exactly is going on here, and we were even able to trace this photo to Moscow. Apparently, they're all holding a Blahaj, which is just a stuffed shark from IKEA.
MIT actually has a pretty good article about why the shark is so popular and when this viral sensation actually started taking over the internet, and it's all pretty interesting.
We Wonder if They'll Get a Parking Ticket
Say what you will about someone using their parking spot to stash their canoe, but we're firmly on the side of it: it's a lot better than whatever that Mercedez is doing in the background there. They're taking up two spaces for a tiny car, and the parking garage looks like it's already kind of packed. Anyway, back to the canoe. Someone probably just didn't have time to do anything with it but needed to unload it for some reason.
So, they just decided to unload it in a parking spot. Not only that, but they made sure to place it perfectly in the middle so that it does not take up more than one parking space.
When You Only Make a Quarter of Your Car Payments
Someone really has some imagination. This looks like it's either parked outside a mechanic's shop or outside a junkyard somewhere. Either way, whoever did this definitely deserves a raise. They took two sides of a single car and cut out the middle, making for a really skinny two-wheeler with one headlight. We imagine it's probably great advertising. When this photo was posted, a couple of people said that they'd seen similar cars outside shops and whatnot.
They also did a pretty good job of putting everything back together, as most of it looks like it was lined up pretty well. Even the headlights look like they came like that.
Thank Goodness They Rebranded
Yes, this is really what Happy Meals used to look like, and yes, they used to also have a mascot that would go and rob people of their food. McDonald's marketing team used to be pretty hardcore. However, we're not exactly sure why someone set up all of these Happy Meal boxes in a room like this. For whatever reason, it's all very disturbing, and we're not even sure that's a McDonald's.
If you're curious, there are around 36 or 37 Happy Meal boxes in this photo. It just depends on whether you count that one in the back cabinet as a box or not.
When the Summer Heat Is Too Much to Handle
Honestly, this photo might've looked pretty weird only a couple of years ago, but we can probably all sympathize with this guy now. It looks like he's found himself an empty cooler inside of a grocery store and just decided to take a break from the heat. That said, we're not actually sure where or when this took place or even what his actual reason for jumping in there was.
It's probably also pretty unsanitary. But, you know you've got to do what you've got to do when temperatures are spiking outside. Who knows, maybe we'll be doing what the guy in this photo is doing one day soon.
How We All Feel When We Have to Iron Clothes
Here's another photo where context would really help us out a bit. It looks like someone fell asleep right underneath their shirt, which is hanging up. However, we're not sure if they fell asleep with the iron on them (which would be pretty risky) or if someone put it there after they fell asleep. Honestly, we'd probably lean more towards the second theory, as the thought of falling asleep with an iron on us would induce nightmares.
We especially like how someone just put the sleeves of this shirt over this guy's face as if the shirt is doing the ironing. You can tell this is probably an old picture, though.
"They Live in Very Difficult Conditions" Is the Most Understated News Headline We've Ever Seen
News reports usually have little captions that make it a bit easier to understand the story. And this one has one, but it reads, "They live in very difficult conditions," which doesn't really help us out. We can see that whatever is happening to this guy is a pretty difficult condition, but what exactly is happening? The headline makes it seem as though this is how he lives, which would seem impossible.
Luckily, we were able to find out a bit more info, and it turns out this guy buried himself alive in order to protest his usual living conditions. Also, this all happened in Colombia.
Nothing to See Here
This seems like a bit of an invasion of privacy. Someone has wired up a security camera inside a bathroom stall, which, along with probably being illegal, is also a bit creepy. Someone commented that this may have been in a stall that was used for drug testing, but that still seems like it would be illegal. We're not entirely sure what is going on with or in this photo.
You can see that the camera isn't plugged up, but there's no guarantee that it wasn't plugged up after this photo was taken. And if this was used for drug testing, then it was almost certainly plugged in eventually.
Sometimes You Have to Get Creative
It's not really hard to tell what's going on in this photo. It looks like someone didn't have a basketball goal, so instead of buying one, they decided that they'd make their own using whatever they had. And they just so happen to have a toilet seat and a bracket. We can't really say too much about this one because if it works, then it works. Good for them for being creative.
However, we do have to wonder if that seat is actually big enough for a basketball because it looks a little small, but that could just be the angle.
Just an Empanada on Its Way to Work
Seeing all kinds of weird things when heading or riding on the subway must just be a normal thing because nobody in this photo seems to care that someone is dressed up as a pastry. Everyone looks as though they're just going about their normal everyday lives. Also, why is there a person dressed up as a pastry? Are they going to shoot a commercial, or maybe they're a performer?
Maybe they just like dressing up like a pie. Who knows. The hall area in this photo also looks a little weird, which makes us think this wasn't taken in a city.
We Really Hope That's Mud
We've been mud riding before, but we've never seen anyone this covered in mud. This guy is completely layered in the stuff. There's no telling where this was taken, but it was probably in an area that's used for this kind of stuff all the time. It also looks like he's driving a side-by-side or something since you can see a bar in the photo. But that's about all we can make out.
There does seem to be a truck in the photo, which tells us that this guy was out mud riding, and this is actually mud, which is somewhat of a relief.
This photo looks pretty incredible at first glance. Our first thought was that the pool balls had to just be a cake, which is totally possible. But what about the bumper in the background? Is that who thing also cake? We aren't so sure. It's also possible that someone just shot these with a shotgun, but that would bring up even more questions that need answers. Like, why did the balls stay in formation?
Who knows, but this photo is pretty intriguing. Either way, we'd probably immediately forfeit the game and our money if we ever saw someone do this in real life.
When the Car Dealer Says Your Truck Is for "all Terrain"
This was a really bad day for someone. It looks as though they just drove their truck off a pier, but how and why is a mystery. It looks as though it'd be pretty hard to fit a truck between the pilings, but maybe they went in a different way. It's also kind of surprising that the truck is floating this well in the photo. We'd expect it to sink.
Sadly, you can see where some of the oil or gas is leaking out into the water, as well. Hopefully, all of that got cleaned up when they pulled the truck out.
Cats Like Camping, Too
This photo doesn't need a whole lot of context to understand or appreciate. However, it's pretty adorable nonetheless. The only thing we're really left wondering is how in the world the owner got their cat to actually stay inside their pinecone circle long enough to take a photo. We're also kind of curious as to where they got their cat's tent from, but that's a question for another time.
It even looks like they gave their cat a bit of shade by placing a tiny plant next to their tent. Props to whoever the owners are because that's definitely one lucky feline.
She's the Squirrel Whisperer
This is, without a doubt, one of the best photos on this list. The next time you're feeling down and a bit pessimistic about the world, just remember that there's a lady out there who uses a marionette doll to interact with squirrels at the park. We just wish we knew where this takes place and the woman's reasoning for this. Even without the squirrel, a photo of an old woman practicing with a marionette in the park would still be pretty awesome.
Add in a squirrel being fed from the doll's hand, and you've got something pretty special. The other lady taking a photo in the background is pretty cool, too.
Nothing to See Here...
You don't have to be the world's greatest detective to figure out what happened here. It looks like someone left their pastries sitting on the counter and came back to find a couple of tiny paw prints in them. We're also not saying that the cat did it, but it does look a little suspicious in this photo. Luckily, it looks like the cat only walked on two of the pastries.
At least, as far as we can tell from the photo, There's probably no telling what else it did to the pastries while it was left alone in the room.
The Scariest Thief We've Ever Laid Eyes on
Here's another photo that could benefit from a little context. Why in the world is this cat hoarding the coins in this photo? Are those even real coins, or are they fake coins you might find at an arcade or something? And why is the cat hairless? But we guess the real question is, what would you do in this situation, go for the coins or turn around and walk away?
After walking in and seeing this, we'd probably just turn around and walk away. That cat can have those things. It obviously needs them more than we probably would.
Um, You Forgot Something
We actually feel really bad for the woman in this news report. She took a risk and agreed to go on camera for an interview, albeit with her face blurred. She obviously trusted this reporter to guard her identity, but as you can see in the second photo, that's not what happened. You can see her face, which isn't blurred in the background while the reporter is busy interviewing someone else.
She also doesn't look too happy in the second photo. Either the reporter or whoever was responsible for blurring faces back at the station really messed this one up.
This Deer Has Seen Some Stuff
It's not every day you see a deer being interviewed on T.V. We can only guess as to why the reporter wanted to ask it some questions, and most of those guesses have to do with hunters and shots being fired. Jokes aside, we were actually really curious as to what in the world is going on in this photo, so we did some digging and found an answer.
It turns out that this is from a story in Canada about a deer that wandered into a farmer's yard alone and made friends with the local guard dog.
Live, Love, Rave
This is a pretty creepy photo, and we couldn't really find much about it online. However, from what we can gather, it looks like a camera trap captured an image of two deer fighting over some corn in the woods. We're not really sure what's going on with the cats and all of the ghostly eyes in the background. Either that or all of these animals are throwing some kind of ritual/dance party.
Honestly, it'd be really cool if the second theory turned out to be the right one, but we suspect it isn't. Hearing random dance music while out walking in the woods at night would be a lot less creepy than hearing anything else.
At Least They Tried to Make It Look Legit
This might just be the most unique way to fix a broken tail light that we've ever seen. And we've seen people cover their tail lights in red duct tape before. However, we do have to question if this would actually work. Obviously, it fills in for the red tail light cover, but it wouldn't really light up or anything when someone pressed on the brakes. In fact, it'd probably distract the driver behind them.
That said, at least they made an effort and actually tried to fix their broken tail light, which is a lot more than what some people out on the road do.
Imagine the Disappointment When All This Is Over
This honestly looks like it could be a scene out of a comedy show or something. We couldn't imagine someone sitting down to have their portrait drawn and the artist completely ignoring them to draw some random guy in the background with their finger up their nose. Then again, maybe the artist just thought he'd never get a similar chance again and decided to go for it. Who knows?
We will say that while the drawing is pretty comical, it doesn't really resemble the same guy in the background. Also, does he just hold that same pose the entire time?
When the Late Queen Was on the Run
We're no experts when it comes to U.K. currency, so we aren't really sure what the image on the 50-pence is supposed to be. However, whatever it is, it lines up perfectly with the image of the late Queen Elizabeth. So, you have to wonder if this was intentional because, really, what are the odds? It'd probably have to be something pretty slim. Either way, it makes for a hilarious photo.
For whatever reason, this also really reminds us of a stop-motion film. Maybe because we could really see this being made into something like a short or an animation.
There Are Some Things You Just Can't Unsee
Just be warned that you can't unsee this photo. Someone figured out that Vladamir Putin actually looked a lot like the woman in the Mona Lisa and made this little comparison. We have to say, we think they were on to something because the resemblance is actually really uncanny. They both have the same eyes, same mouth, and same nose. The foreheads are also pretty similar to one another.
Who knows, maybe the two have a common relative or something from way back in the day. Honestly, it wouldn't really be the weirdest thing that we've ever heard.
