This article was originally published on tv-bee and has been republished here with permission. While many of us prefer to keep ourselves as clean as possible, there are many of us who are a lot laxer than others. Apparently, celebrities aren't immune to the effects of feeling a bit lazy when it comes to doing their hygiene routine. After all, they are humans just like the rest of us, and, if anything, having more money makes it even more possible to push off doing your daily cleaning. If you're wondering just exactly who has the worst breath, the smelliest farts, the worst B.O., or is generally the worst at keeping up with personal hygiene, read on and find out.
This all-American sweetheart has managed to capture the hearts of many despite starting her acting career with roles that were anything but sweet. But being sweet doesn't always mean you smell as such.
Speaking to E! News, she said, "I don’t believe in antiperspirant. It’s really bad for you. I haven’t used it for almost 20 years. You’re stinky, because you use antiperspirant. It keeps all the stink in." While we agree that it's bad to use antiperspirant, as it keeps you from sweating, it might still be worthwhile trying out some regular deodorant.
Viggo Mortenson is known to be able to take on the role of any character thrown his way and basically become them through method acting. As you might have guessed, this can lead to some pretty hardcore hygiene problems.
For example, to prepare himself for the role of Aragon in "The Lord of the Rings", he decided to forego his luxurious bathroom and opted instead to live off the land in a forest. You can bet he came back smelling like that, too.
Coco Austin was actually pretty detailed with her hygiene habits in an interview with E!'s "Daily Pop" talk show. She said, "I wash my hair every four days. But when I'm feeling icky, I'll get in the shower. Whether that's every day, that may be, but that could be every three days."
"I kinda keep myself clean, though," she continued explaining. "Like, if I feel like my pits smell or something, I just take some washcloths and some soap to it. I might not have to clean my whole body."
When you shower or bathe you always make sure to wash the essentials. But for most of us, washing our bodies also includes the other parts of our bodies that might have gotten dirty due to anything from sweating to mud fighting.
For "That 70s Show" co-star, Ashton Kutcher, that doesn't seem to be the case. He was quoted as saying "I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever," on the podcast "Armchair Expert". Just because it doesn't stink doesn't mean you can just throw some water on it.
Ashton Kutcher might not wash his whole body ever, but at least he still washes daily. While we might not all need a shower every day, there are some people, like Johnny Depp, who avoid showering altogether.
Reportedly, he'll go days or even weeks without bathing and that has apparently been a problem for many of his exes. We thought that rugged and grungy exterior was just a part of his character, but it seems to be a bit more than that.
We may have just told you that Johnny Depp's previous partners apparently had a problem with his hygiene but, for at least one of them, they seem to be having a similar problem.
Vanessa Paradis supposedly also has some issues with taking showers and her friends and coworkers have certainly taken notice. It's possible that Depp's habits might have rubbed off on her. And maybe some other things rubbed off as well.
Shailene Woodley has spoken about her shower habits in the past. While we don't know how many times she showers a week, she has told Parade that she only washes her hair once a month as it is very low maintenance.
That's not all. She reportedly won't be lent clothes by any clothing designers because they refuse to give them to her. Why? Her love for essential oils is so great that the extent to which they stay on her clothes even through washes.
If you have ever seen "Kill Bill" you'd know how beautifully intense Uma Thurman can be. She's also just beautiful in general. However, it doesn't seem like she really cares to keep up her looks when it comes to her wardrobe.
One stylist who worked with her told Kiss FM, "I worked with her on a shoot for a major fashion house. She'd often show up wearing clothes covered in crusty smelly food. I pulled a piece of shrimp off her back that I swear was two weeks old". Maybe it's because she knew she'd be changing, but that's still gross.
Due to his long tenure in the acting scene, Russell Crowe has had plenty of time to show others his personal hygiene habits. He's never said anything before, but others apparently have something to say about him.
Reportedly, he seems to have quite the body odor issue. No one knows if it's a lack of deodorant or a lack of showering, but either way, coworkers have expressed their discomfort with the fumes that emanate from this man.
Mel Gibson may be a pretty busy man, but that doesn't mean that there's no room in that schedule for a quick shower or even a rinse. But, apparently, that's not something he is really concerned with.
Apparently, he doesn't even try to cover up his body odor with deodorant. His smell has been described as a mix of body odor and cigarettes, a combination that we hope not to have any experience with any time in our lives.
As one of the most famous men in the world, you would think that Leonardo DiCaprio would be on the peak of cleanliness. Obviously, since he's on this list, that's not quite the case.
Like many of the upcoming celebrities on this list, DiCaprio does not use deodorant since he doesn't think it's very good for you. Moreover, he's environmentally friendly and only takes showers when he deems it necessary.
This one might not be so crazy for you to think. With his messy hair, unkempt facial hair, and grungy looks in general, you might think that he's a pretty dirty guy. He'd argue against that, however, as he keeps himself pretty clean.
However, similarly to Leonardo DiCaprio, he doesn't wear deodorant. He understands that he can get pretty musky as a result but thinks that you either like it or hate it and he doesn't really care either way.
Julia Roberts seems to be the image of cleanliness and beauty. She's got a gorgeous smile and perfectly kept skin, but that doesn't mean that she's immune to having bad hygiene.
Well, it's not exactly bad, per se, just that she's similarly environentally friendly like Leonardo DiCaprio and she only tries to use as much water as necessary and otherwise avoids showers and baths. Also like him, she doesn't think deodorant is good for you.
Shia LeBeouf is another one of those actors known to get a bit down and dirty for a role. As with Viggo Mortenson, Shia LeBoeuf is big into method acting to prepare himself for a role.
Due to this habit, he tends to come away from things pretty smelly. For example, for his role in "fury", he avoided showering for quite a few weeks because that wasn't a pleasure afforded to his character.
Matthew McConaughey doesn't necessarily seem the type to forego personal hygiene depending on who you ask. But as with many of the other people here he seems to have a certain disdain for using any sort of deodorant.
Although many of his co-workers don't seem to appreciate it, McConaughey has gone without wearing deodorant for over two whole decades! That's a lot of dedication to avoid smelling the same as everyone else, which is his reason for ditching the product.
Angelina Jolie is not someone we expected to see on this list. She almost seems too perfectly clean to be anything but. Although you might be able to argue her lack of time between work and her kids, it can't be much of an excuse to be unhygienic.
Apparently, that doesn't seem to be the case. Jolie has reportedly gone for whole weeks without washing her hair or body. And also this trait seems to have been passed down to her kids. We can't imagine the house smelling all that great.
Christina Aguilera is another person who seems to be the picture of good hygiene, especially since she has a whole line of perfumes. However, it doesn't seem like her use of such scents is perfectly healthy.
Some people have said that she smells too sweet and overly scented, like that of a 12-year-old girl's room. Others, like her friends, have said that she actually smells like hot dogs. We're not sure which we would prefer between the two.
Not everything with hygiene has to do with smelling bad from body odor. Some people have a problem with their breath. Just ask the people who have had to work with Jennifer Aniston, who you may know as Rachel from "Friends".
We're not saying she doesn't brush her teeth or anything like that. But she does have a certain smell always emanating from her mouth which may make kissing scenes pretty difficult. Apparently, she can't get enough coffee throughout the day and has the stench of stale coffee at all times.
When you're a member of a boyband and have perfectly crafted hair and tailor-made outfits, you look like someone that everybody wants to be. Although he has a solo career now, Harry still looks as good as ever. Though he looks perfect, the same can't be said about his smell.
Many people have commented on his smell including Zayne Malik, who said his feet could get pretty stinky, Louis Tomlinson, who said he had really bad farts, and even Taylor Swift, who commented on his bad breath. That's a lot of stank.
You'd think that someone with as much money as Kourtney Kardashian would use it for something to keep herself fresh and clean. A spa day perhaps or even some nice soaps and deodorants. Well, not this time around.
It doesn't take much money to buy yourself some deodorant, but that doesn't matter to Kourtney, who thinks the stuff is bad for your health as well. Apparently, it does matter to her kids who think she can be pretty darn stinky.
Zac Efron is the pinnacle of good-looking men. Everybody you speak to who likes this actor can't get enough of his good looks. That probably helps people overlook his propensity to not take showers. Seriously, guys, it's not that hard to hop in for five minutes.
One source who worked with the star told Star magazine back in 2009 that "Zac isn't a big fan of showering. It's so gross because Zac loves to work out and plays basketball all the time - and then goes days without showering". It's not hard to believe this habit may have stuck with him through the years.
Not everyone on this list has a good excuse to be unhygienic. Tamron, on the other hand, might have a skin condition, as she was quoted as saying "People with skin issues notice that when they forgo daily baths, it eases up eczema and dry skin".
While not exactly clear if she was referring to herself, that would explain her reluctance to shower every day. Still, we couldn't give up her spot on this list when she gave up showering since we weren't exactly sure. We hope it's working for her, though.
Jessica Simpson has amazingly white teeth and a gorgeous smile, but once you hear she brushes her teeth only three times a week, it's hard to imagine how they stay so clean. Yes, this is what she said in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres back in 2010.
She went on to say that her "teeth are so white and I don’t like them to feel too slippery but I do use Listerine and I do floss every day. My lips just slide all over the place….I can’t catch up with my mouth. I know it’s gross but I always have fresh breath.” If it works, it works, but this is a sure-fire way to get yourself some cavities.
Somehow, Bradley Cooper always seems to look good. Whether he's going about his daily life or making yet another Hollywood blockbuster, he always knows how to keep himself looking fresh. And it's not such a coincidence either.
Apparently, he too refuses to wear deodorant. What this means for the actor is that he showers two to three times a day in an effort to keep himself smelling as fresh as possible. We don't know what it is with people not wearing deodorant. If it's bad to wear some scents on your pits, couldn't the same be said about perfumes?
She may have one of the more grungy looks on this list, but as a sex symbol (at least, for the 90s and 2000s) you would think that she keeps herself pretty well kept. Well, that's apparently not the case, otherwise, she wouldn't be on this list.
She, too, doesn't wear deodorant. But that's not all. She also can't keep her showering habits going strong, and wears her shoes and socks rarely, preferring, instead, to go barefoot. But with all the stuff happening in her life, who can blame her for getting a little sidetracked?
Anderson Cooper, in our opinion, is one of the best-looking men on this list. His skin is clear, his clothing is on point, and his pure grey hair is nothing if not perfectly quaffed. So what could we possibly have to say about this fine gentleman?
Well, here's something for ya. We do think you can wear a single pair of pants more than once a week, provided you keep them nice and clean. However, Cooper takes this a step further. The jeans that he wears every single day he only washes up to four times a year. That's only once every thirteen weeks!
We mentioned Brad Pitts's ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, earlier on this list. But she's not the only one from that family who had a streak for being pretty nasty. Brad Pitt also has a few bad habits of his own that they may have shared with each other.
Apparently, he's only able to get into the shower every now and then due to his busy schedule. Like Zac Efron, he seems to have taken up the habit of cleaning himself off with some baby wipes. We're no official cleaning police, but we do think that that doesn't do yourself justice as a shower would.
Gwyneth Paltrow is all about letting her body decide what products work for her and what don't. It comes as no surprise as to what she probably doesn't do. We'll give you a hint: many celebs on this list don't do it and it's really easy for anyone to skip out on
If you guessed putting on deodorant, then you'd be right. According to her, using aluminum-based deodorants can be harmful to the body. Now that someone has actually specified why it can be harmful, we're starting to believe there might be some truth to this trend after all.
Kristen Stewart is yet another actress that you might find hard to believe has a problem with personal hygiene. Thanks to her role in "Twilight" people either love her or hate her, so you might believe it even if there is no concrete evidence to support this.
That being said, it was reported that during the filming of "Twilight" she had only washed her hair every few weeks and barely brushed her teeth to the dismay of Robert Pattinson. Whether it's true or not doesn't change how gross we feel that is, but we hope it isn't true for her sake.
He may not have enjoyed Kristen Stewarts' tooth brushing stint, but Robert Pattinson is not out of the woods himself. Actually, he himself has admitted that he's not the best or most hygienic when it comes to showering.
He said to Extra in an interview that "If you don't care if your hair's clean or not then why would you wash it". Also, someone who worked closely with Pattinson on the set of "New Moon" revealed, "He stinks. I mean, it's awful. He never showers, and it drives people on the set crazy".
Not everyone has a problem washing. For people like Orlando Bloom, washing your clothes comes second to washing your body, although taking showers also isn't something he's very good at either. That's quite the ripe combination if you ask us.
According to a friend of ex-girlfriend Miranda Kerr, "Recently, [Miranda] asked him if he could wash his clothes and perhaps shower more often. Miranda thinks Orlando is too smelly". The friend also added that "He’ll wear the same jeans for a week before he throws them in the washer. Same goes for his sweaters, T-shirts and socks."
If you know Ke$ha, you might automatically be assuming she's a bit sloppy and gross. That's thanks to her many songs that give her quite the grungy appeal. Though unfair to judge her based on that, there might actually be some truth to the claims.
Apparently, Ke$ha has been known to drink her own urine as a part of an experimental health care routine. This came with the unintended side effect of making her stink. In her own words, she said she smelled of "shrimp on a diaper". That sounds pretty darn nasty.
Ke$ha isn't the only wild singer to have some issues with scent. Former Disney star Miley Cyrus was who every young child wanted to be until her stunt in her "Wrecking Ball" music video. She has since recovered her former glory (though we don't think it ever went away) but apparently has some hygiene issues to address.
Like many others before her, she doesn't wear deodorant. Although, unlike the others before her, she will wear it as long as it's vegan. But some experts have claimed it looks as if she has fungus growing on her tongue and might not have good dental hygiene, but have you seen her teeth? We call BS on that one.
You may think that having children would be the reason that Alicia Silverstone doesn't shower or whatever you assume we might be about to say. However, that has nothing to do with it. Like others, she doesn't wear deodorant of any form, not vegan or otherwise.
She has also been found to act like a mama bird to her kiddies. And yes, by that we mean she chews up her food and feeds it to her kids. If you don't believe us, there is video footage out there of her doing this. Not exactly the healthiest or most appropriate habit.
Anyone who's a fan of Megan Fox would probably disagree with anything we're about to say about her. After all, many people feel that she is the perfect human being and the most beautiful woman in the world currently.
You'd be happy to know that what we have to say has nothing to do with her actual hygiene habits. She does use deodorant and she does shower on a regular basis. Although many people have noted that her poor memory can lead her to forget to flush the toilet quite often and we think that's disgusting all on its own.
You may not be surprised to see Snooki on this list. After all, she was a co-star on the show "Jersey Shore" and has been known to do all manner of things on and over the top. That's why we weren't all that surprised to hear this about her as unfair as that may seem.
She's actually been very vocal about her habits. Along with apparently having bad breath from not brushing her teeth often enough, she also uses cat litter to exfoliate her face. While that probably works pretty well, we can't imagine this having a very good effect on her overall smell or hygiene.
At this point, you'll probably believe anything we say regardless of whether or not the person is an actor, model, rich, or beautiful. Kendra Wilkinson, star of "The Girls Next Door" and former Playboy playmate apparently has an issue with how she smells in that she doesn't care.
According to Star, a source told them that "Kendra loves to look sexy, but she couldn't care less how she smells. I don't know if she has pets but she smells like urine most of the time. She almost never takes a shower, and doesn't use perfume, either".
Chase Crawford And Chad Westwick
These "Gossip Girl" stars had the most amazing-looking apartments in the movie. However, that doesn't seem to be the case for their real-life apartment. They shared one together and someone close to them shared some pretty nasty details about it.
According to the insider, they told New York Daily News, "It stinks. Those boys are slovenly and have garbage and clothes everywhere. You'd think they were living in a frat house!" As if one person with bad habits wasn't enough, two of them make for a real bad deal.
Ke$ha isn't the only one who uses urine in a nasty way, apparently. Madonna, too, has been said to use the liquid waste to help ward off athlete's foot, according to The Daily Mail. As if Athlete's foot didn't make your feet smell weird enough, she had to go dump pee onto it.
But that's not all. She was seen taking an ice bath after her MAdame X tour and afterward she sipping a yellow drink. She said of the drink, "It’s really good to drink urine after you’ve got out of the frozen bath". Whether she was serious or not is still up for debate, but that's pretty nasty regardless.
