Pry Yourself From These Jaws and Run Like Hades
Ever walk around the neighborhood in late October, and wet your pants? Generally, that doesn't happen very often. But if we found ourselves strolling the streets and ran into this monstrosity, we would. The family that created these giant jaws clearly loves to spook. They are not even pretending otherwise. On social media, they proudly posted their work and explained: "First Halloween in our new home! Sorry, neighbors, we’re that house."
We're not sure what technique they used to create these chompers. We are mad they surpassed our decorations, but we are impressed with their skills. You got us good, freaky family!
When They Rudely Moon You With Pumpkin Butt
Halloween has plenty of traditions. We all know about the popular themes and activities. But have we been doing things right, all these years? No one has ever told us the etiquette. Are you supposed to be polite to pumpkin people mooning you in the middle of the day? We don't know if there is a right way to react to this. Perhaps it's time to give Jack O here a taste of his own potion.
The neighbors might be offended, and we can't entirely argue. But flashing those orange cheeks is no less rude. It's a full moon here, folks. But it's definitely funny!
Prepare to Battle Zombie Knights and Dragons
It's been a while since medieval dragons roamed the earth, terrorizing humans at will. From Europe to Asia, large serpentine creatures were folklore. Allegedly, the last of them were slain by knights. We assume dead means dead, but on Halloween, there is always the possibility of the undead. Check out this dragon and its guardian knights. All zombies! That's something we never counted on. And honestly, we're not sure want to find out more.
The lizard is watching us, and it's totally unsettling. If you thought you were going to pop by and get a few candies, we advise you to reconsider. The risk here is real!
This Decor Was a Little Too Real and the Cops Came
Halloween is supposed to be spooky, according to tradition. Some of us put up a few silly ghosts at home, and claim it meets the standard. But does it? There are those who take the challenge more seriously. Like this fellow, right here. All he wanted to do was create the illusion of a dead body. He's dug a shallow grave and seems proud of his work. Is there a problem, officer?
Seems so, sir. The neighbors didn't realize this was just a holiday joke! They alerted the authorities who quickly came just to make sure. These days, you never know, right?
We Are Praying There Isn’t a Real Clown In There
We are all a little uneasy around clowns. Why? It seems silly, but researchers have proven that this has logic. Little kids often see the painted men when they are too young to process the idea. What you don't understand can be very scary! Hollywood took it a step further when they decided to traumatize us as adults. The movie It still haunts our dreams. And in this neighborhood, there are about to be nightmares.
We found this photo on social media, and we are totally creeped out. Apparently, this was one neighbor's only Spooktober decoration! Simple, yet startling. Dare you walk by the drain?
This Is How Mexico Gets All Spooky on Day of the Dead
The day after Halloween, there is a very eerie celebration south of the border. Mexicans celebrate Dia De Muertos. That means the day of the dead, for all of you rusty on your Spanish. The concept? Remember all of your dead loved ones. Create little remembrance sites and eat meals together. We like the idea, in theory. But the aesthetics are super creepy! Check out this giant skeleton rising from the grave.
It seems we built a concrete road right over his resting spot. He is trying his best to enter the living realm, but it's a struggle. One foot up, one foot to go. Go skeleton, go!
The Police Came Here Over and Over and Over
This Dallas house made international news! Police kept coming to check on his ultra-realistic Halloween display. It's hard to miss, and it does look like a grisly scene. We see a bucket full of floating skulls. There's blood splattered all over the sidewalk. And there are at least three dead bodies sprawled out on the property. It might be October, but many people still decided that it was better to be safe than sorry.
Upon close inspection, it's easy to see these are all props. But from the other side of the block, we don't blame the good samaritans who called in. We think you would, too!
She Made Her Family House a Morbid Masterpiece
Christine McConnell is an artist with a growing following on social media. More than half a million fans admire her freaky sensibilities. After seeing the movie Monster House, she knew she needed to try it herself. On Halloween, she loves to transform houses into haunted displays. This is her parents' dwelling, and the internet was stunned by her handiwork. It wasn't easy: Christine worked on it for four days, in twelve-hour shifts.
The cottage now has six giant eyes and a hundred fangs. Some might wonder if mom and dad consented to this remodeling. The answer is yes! Like everyone else, they were incredibly impressed.
When Your Local Cafe Gets Infested With Ghosts
October just looks different in America. Houses are a great place to display dark decor. But what about restaurants? Plenty of customers need to get freaked out when they get their food. This cafe understood the need, and they decided to transform their building into a Ghostbusters experience. Here, we see giant tentacles coming out of every window, as though there is a monster inside. On top, we have a ghost guest.
The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man has returned, and he is terrifying as ever. He's big. He's puffy and paranormal. And if you want to grab a burger this month, you're going to need his permission.
Turns Out Mom and Dad Have a Really Dark Sense of Humor
It's a stage of life, and we've all been through it. Teens are often embarrassed by mom and dad. Rarely do we share the same social sense as our parents, at that age. Whether it's shouting our nicknames or hugging in public, there are many ways to cringe. But that's all amateur stuff. This couple decided to embarrass their kids a little more than usual on Halloween. Because, why not?
Here, five familiar horror movie antagonists appear, famous for targeting teenagers. It seems like these parents agreed those teenagers deserved what they ended up getting. Creative? Certainly. Change our minds!
Yet Another Terrifying Monster in a Neighborhood Near You
Halloween is here again, and we've seen our fair share of ghosts and ghouls. Won't somebody scare us in a new way? Nom nom, nom. We take that back. A blue monster has taken over a house in the neighborhood. With his giant googly eyes, he stares coldly ahead. Is he going to eat us, just like that cookie? Whatever our fate may be, we're not going to go out like this.
Well guess what, this monster is actually featured on TV every day of the year. But not all monsters are scary, some are just hungry for cookies.
Too Much Yoga Made Them Bony
Experts claim that yoga improves balance, strength, and flexibility. It can help with things like back pain and arthritis. It can help you sleep and manage stress. Doctors even recommend it! But would they endorse the practice if they knew how bony it can actually make you? These skeletons are still trying to get their downward dog just right. But they died a long time ago. Has no one informed them?
Obviously not. These former yogis have no idea they are just bones. Maybe this routine once had its purpose. But now? If their joints are cracking, there's just not much that can be done.
Hide Your Trees When Skeletons Attack
Hey, what's going on here? That's our tree! This Halloween, watch out for an army of skeletons coming up from below. We're not sure why they've been spotted unearthing trunks all over town, but they are clearly building something. Could they be preparing for war? Are they building a fortress for a planned attack? We're not privy to all the affairs of the afterlife, but this has piqued our interest.
Root by root, branch by branch, these bony bandits are taking wood. They have their reasons. But should this be allowed? We say, go back to the graveyard. No trespassing was not a suggestion!
Stranger Things Have Happened Than This House
On Halloween, comparing haunted houses is an activity all its own. One driver found this display while driving around looking at decorations. He noticed it look familiar. Maybe too familiar. Could this be a copy of the set of Stranger Things? Fans of the Netflix show will recognize it instantly. If you are intrigued by the combination of science fiction, drama, and horror, this might be the series for you.
The elements are all there. They've got the colorful lights and the alphabet mural. There's a spooky door and crime scene tape. We won't spoil the show by telling you what's inside!
We’re Not Even Sure if This Is a Holiday Decoration
When you've got three dead bodies in your yard bound in black cloth, you can't expect everyone to understand that's it's all in good fun. In this case, we don't know if it is. Could this be a crime scene, in plain view? That question gets increasingly difficult to answer in the month of October. There is some chance that a clever killer dropped off his victims on this lawn.
We wouldn't be surprised if a police car came by, just to make sure. Adults are probably a little nervous seeing this in the neighborhood. Worse, think of the children!
There’s Clearly a Monster Living in This Home
Typically, monsters lurk in the attic. You know that bump in the night? That's a monster. These creatures know they choose the homes that are already inhabited. We may not know why they bother us, but that's not going to change their choice. It's not every home, and it's not all the time. But indeed, if you have a space above your room for storage, the likelihood of infestation increases.
Here, one monster decided to come out and say hi for the holiday. He peers out at the world and grins the only way he can. Will you be his friend?
Every Truck Needs a Little Terror
The rules of the road are clear. You are not allowed to text and drive, and you must use your turn signal. You can't go over the speed limit, but you also shouldn't go under it. What do drivers not understand, these days? It can be frustrating to share the streets. What do we need to say to stop the anarchy? Maybe this truck's Halloween message will help. This would scare us straight!
Three skeletons are here to tell you a dead man's tale. Their crimes vary, but their fates were the same. Do you want to end up like them? No, you do not.
These People Seriously Put Out 3,000 Pumpkins Every Year
Sure, we've carved a pumpkin or two in our day. Maybe dozens, even. From cute to scary, we thought tried it all. But maybe we haven't. This real home in West Virginia has become a local legend, inhabited by the Griffith family. The pumpkin effort here is unparalleled, each and every haunted season. 3,000 jack o’ lanterns light up the night and even attract tourists. The question is, do the Griffiths really gut them all?
No, that would be way too slimy. Hundreds of volunteers create this spectacular display on the steps, the grass, and even the roof. The question is, where can we eat the 3,000 pumpkin pies?
When You Want to Celebrate a Beatles Milestone but It’s Also Halloween
If you've ever met someone who claims that they don't love The Beatles, run. That's the spookiest thing we've ever heard! Only a ghoul could be that cold. We haven't had to deal with that kind of fright in real life yet, luckily. We were just happy to recently celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the "Abbey Road” album. It was released in fall 1969. Did you think no one would adapt it to October?
Someone out there had four skeletons and wigs on hand. They chalked that famous crossing on their lawn and assembled the display. Looks just like the album cover. But way creepier!
He Was Lazy and Now You All Know Better
Chores are bores. We all know that. But we also know that helping out around the house is an important part of family life. One person cannot do it all, short of having magical powers. And unless you're a witch that can just cast spells and vanquish messes, it's going to take some focus. One man here decided he wasn't going to get his hands dirty. How did that work out for him?
His bones now dangle off the roof, for the town to see. He would not help with dishes, the sign explains. Will the other husbands think twice, next time? We sure hope so.
Kids These Days Are Always Summoning Satan
Most will agree that the suburbs are a great place to raise a family. But admittedly, they can get dull. What are youngsters supposed to do to entertain themselves? Hide and go seek is decent, but that loses its magic after you do it enough. We know where you are hiding, and you know we are looking for you. Tag has been overdone, too. Is there a new game that youth can try out?
Yes, of course. It involves summoning the devil himself. Just hold hands in a circle, and start chanting over a fire. Make sure to wear white sheets, so he knows you mean business!
An Ambulance Actually Came by With a Police Escort
When you want to strike fear into the hearts of humanity, try a garbage bag with a body shape stuffed inside. It will work like a charm! One social media user posted a photo of his efforts, here. He explained: “Woke up this morning to 6 cops, a fire truck, and an ambulance at my door because a passing car was concerned about the one Halloween decoration I neglected to take down.”
It seems that his plan to terrorize the town worked out quite nicely. All three city departments came rushing to his home, pronto. It was all fake, of course. Can you say success?
Pretty Sure This Place Is Infested
Spiders may not mean any harm, but they keep invading our personal space. We understand these creatures have a purpose in nature. They help us out, in their own way, by catching yuckier bugs. But their webbing is gross, and we don't want it floating around in our space. Here, a spider has created a trap outside of a home. That might be even worse! What is it trying to do?
It's big enough for us to worry that it might eat the residents. That's no way to spend Halloween! Someone get a torch, or a really big shoe!
We Found the Most Terrifying Thing of All
Witches and warlocks have terrorized us for centuries. They come out every October, on the dot. But they're hardly alone. There are zombies, monsters, and ghosts in the mix. When it comes to facing your fears on Halloween, this home isn't going to force you to deal with the underworld. You might think that's a breath of fresh air. But wait: There's something far worse lurking, right here on the lawn.
Check it out: We see a man and a woman making a permanent commitment to each other. In front of the world, they are joining until death do them part. Terrifying!
Just a Skeleton Taking His Spiders Out for a Walk
Pets are a big commitment if you want to provide a loving home. And most pet owners do. Cats take care of business all by themselves and make a good choice for the hands-off animal lover. Dogs require a little more effort, perhaps several walks a day. But that's advice for the average joe. What if you're a skeleton? We know just the pet for you. Check out these extra-large spiders!
You will need leashes to keep them in check. Spiders do love to scurry. But overall, they are a charming choice. They fit in perfectly with your style, Mister Bones!
Way to Make This Vintage House Authentically Haunted
Old brick homes fetch a pretty penny, these days. Urbanites just love feeling like they live in a historic masterpiece. Even if they renovate the inside to ultra-modern standards, the exterior is left as is. Here, a red townhouse has been fitted with a guillotine for Halloween. How nostalgic! We, too, look back fondly on all the beheadings of yesteryear. And on Halloween, the heads and bodies finally fit into the city scenery.
In the doorway, we see the blade. On the lawn, we see a handing head. The stairs are covered in blood, as we would expect. Decapitation is a messy business!
They’re Going for More Gore Than Ever Before
Uh oh: There has been some sort of incident at this home. Not one, but two human beings are met their demise. Here, their bodies hang upside down in white sheets. You can see the blood draining out of the corpses. Not a pretty picture, to say the least! We certainly hope this is a Halloween joke. If not, we are going to alert the authorities to begin the investigation. Which is it?
We just don't know. Since it is pretty close to All Hallows' Eve, we are willing to give it some time. But if this is still up in November, get justifiably suspicious.
When You Want to Hex Folks but You’re Bad at Flying Around
Witches have been brewing sinister potions and casting spells for hundreds of years. They collect rare ingredients most of us have never heard of while zooming around on broomsticks. And we don't blame them: Traffic is not an option when you're trying to curse the town. But everyone once in a while, an obstacle gets in the way of a magical mission. Double, double toil and trouble, it's a tree!
This witch got flattened when she was flying above the speed limit. She wasn't watching where she was going, and now we have a splat on our hands. Hopefully, she didn't leave her cauldron on.
Feel Free to Stay Away From This House in Particular
We admit it. Every once in a while, we think that the houses are laughing at us. That's probably when we are drunk, and imagining things. We know that's not real. But today, it's Halloween. Our worst fears come true and haunt us all around town. Like here, for example. A perfectly ordinary house is chuckling at us from down the block. What exactly is so funny, you terrifying house?
The dastardly decor is freaking us out so much that we don't think we can go home. We might just stay at a friend's until November. Look at those teeth!
It’s Absolutely Time to Call an Exterminator and a Exorcist
Apparently, NYC Halloweensters have been embracing a new tradition. Recently, locals have been noticing the appearance of a lot of large webs, this time of year. At first, they probably assumed a terrible new species of spider had invaded the city. But no! It's just a clever way to dress up your residence when you don't have a big backyard like the rest of the country. Yes, it's disgusting. But it is also innovative!
We see this block has also included two bats in its display. Nine species of bats actually do live in New York state. Are they usually this big? Goodness, we hope not!
Demon Pumpkin Monster Is Here to Say Hi
Every now and then, we meet pumpkin people we really get along with. This is not one of those times. Today is more of a scary encounter if we have to pick a theme. This gourd goblin doesn't seem very friendly, and we have questions. What does he want? Why is he here? And more to the point, how sharp are his fingers? We would like some more information, and quick.
Here, he peers at us with a menacing look. Is this just how he smiles? If so, we understand why he hides all year. Halloween is the only time he fits in!
This Realistic Crash Scared the Bejeezus Out of Everyone
Car crashes happen all the time, just about everywhere. The reasons for collision include distracted driving, tiredness, and underestimating distances. Some crazy people are drunk behind the wheel. Some people text while driving. Overall, there are lots of reasons things can get mangled. But rarely does a car veer off the road all the way across a yard, and pin a pedestrian against a tree. Is that what occurred here?
No, no, It's just a gruesome Halloween display in broad daylight. Did you look at the date on the calendar? Don't forget to do that when you see such a mess!
Check Out All the Things That Died in 2021
2021 was a difficult year for millions around the world. A lot of things closed down because of health concerns. That certainly included fun, as a general category. Among the things that died: The gym, karaoke, shaking hands, hugs, bars, and concerts. And that's not all! We barely know what human mouths or chins look like anymore. Here, one house decided to include this concept in their Halloween graveyard. Witty, isn't it?
We certainly hope this will be a joke of holiday past, ASAP. But until then, try to have a laugh at all the things you missed. Seriously, what else can you do?
The Walking Dead Came Alive in This Hood
The Walking Dead was a series that focused on life after a zombie apocalypse. We loved watching survivors struggle as they searched for safety and evaded the undead. Was that cruel of us? Maybe so. The character Miochone posed some tough questions: “Have you ever had to kill people because they had already killed your friends and were coming for you next? Have you ever done things that made you feel afraid of yourself afterward? Have you ever been covered in so much blood that you didn’t know if it was yours or walkers’ or your friends’? Huh? Then you don’t know."
Okay, we don't know. But we got to have a little adrenaline along with these condemned souls! This Halloween lawn decided to recreate a classic scene from the show. From a distance, we're cheering for the zombies!
The Local Bar Dressed up in Its Own Way
When it comes to October decor, houses and restaurants always get the attention. But what about that shady bar, right in the neighborhood? You've probably been ignoring it. But we think there is reason to get festive, no matter how boring the building is. This local tavern, for example, went as something familiar. Recognize this place? If you guessed it was Moe's from The Simpsons, you would be correct. Three cheers for you!
True fans may know this trivia: Moe's is based on a real bar in California. The show's creators used Moe's near the Loyola Marymount University campus. If you want to see the original, go to Culver street.
